This web site was launched in July 2002, the result of a unique collaboration between Bainbridge Township and seven talented members of the Kenston High School community. A volunteer effort, the site was created at no cost to the taxpayers.

Each year, Kenston High School's mentorship program encourages graduating seniors to spend three weeks gaining real-world experience "outside the classroom" in a commercial, non-profit, or community service project.

Upon hearing that the township needed assistance with its existing web site, seniors Mike Hoyle, Jason Maxwell, TJ Shafer, Pat Thornton, and Joe Zaranec formed a "dream team" under the leadership of Kenston alumni Don Pavlish and faculty advisor Ronnie Continenza. The team set out to build a completely new site for the township, one that would be engaging, informative, and easy for the township to update.

The team welcomes you to their site -- the result of many hours of hard work and a more than a few "all nighters" -- and they hope you find it as enjoyable and enlightening to visit as it was for them create.

Who is the Dream Team?

Michael Hoyle
Age: 18
Mike specializes in graphical design and is expanding his knowledge in the programming field by developing his HTML skills. Attending Ohio University in the fall, Mike will major in business in hopes of one day owning his own company, thus following in the footsteps of his father. Although that dream may be closer than previously thought, as he and two other members of the "Dream Team" have plans to create a web company over the summer.

Jason Maxwell
Age: 18
Jason specializes in HTML coding and graphical design, and is looking to adding PHP development into his repertoire. With an early interest in computers, Jason designed his first website in fourth grade. Now with an interest in extending his computer knowledge to other divisions such as artificial intelligence and robotics, Jason will attend Ohio University in the fall where he will major in Computer Engineering and obtain a minor in business with hopes of extending his education to include a Masters Degree, if not a PhD. He too has aspirations to one day own his own company, but will get his first taste of entrepreneurship this summer with fellow members of the dream team Mike Hoyle and Pat Thornton.

T.J. Shafer
Age: 19
TJ specializes in PHP programming, though is also skilled in HTML programming. TJ is attending Kent State where he plans on majoring in computer science, and developing the necessary graphical skills that would allow him to actively compete in the web development job market. He aspires to some day have a job very similar to that of his mentor's, Don Pavlish, which would allow him to work a very flexible schedule in a field that he greatly enjoys.

For more information about TJ, please visit his web site at www.tjshafer.com.

Pat Thornton
Age: 17
Pat specializes in content and graphics and on this project expanded his skills into the world of photography. Pat also has knowledge in programming which he hopes to hone this summer. He is attending Lehigh University as an undecided but will either go into Computer Science or Political Science. After college Pat hopes to attain a law degree from an ivy league school and become a specialist in intellectual properties with his combined knowledge of computers and law. But before any of that craziness Pat will one day make a site like his original dream - teen network. While working on that dream he will team up with other Dream Teamers to add his special blend of content, flare, and moxy to the web design industry.

Joe Zaranec
Age: 17
Joe used his background in photography and literature in order to help develop content and imagery for the site. He was able to use his artistic flare as an asset in the development and refinement of graphics for the site, as well as in photographing the township. Joe plans on attending the University of Miami in the fall, where he will set aside his artistic and creative talents to study psychology.

Don Pavlish, Community Advisor
Project advisor Don Pavlish grew up in Bainbridge Township and graduated from Kenston High School. He enjoyed the challenge of working with five of Kenston's most talented web design students to create this web site for the township.

Don is a freelance web designer and producer whose sites have been featured in media outlets around the world, including The New York Times, USA Today, Newsweek, MSNBC, CNET TV, BBC Radio, Fast Company, and others. He's produced everything from small sites for non-profits and small businesses to major database-driven web sites for Fortune 500 companies and charities, including Sony and the American Cancer Society.

A graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Don additionally counts film and television among his interests. For his senior thesis at NYU, Don co-directed a team of over thirty students to produce Sitcom 2000, the first episodic comedy for both television and the web.

For more information about Don, please visit his web site at www.donpavlish.com.

Ronnie Continenza, Faculty Advisor
Mr. Continenza teaches math and web design at Kenston High School. He is the faculty webmaster for the high school site, which was judged best scholastic web site in the United States. He became involved with the web site during the 1998 school year, and served as faculty advisor for the seniors building the new Bainbridge site.
